  Some Mastodonians seem upset that it hasn’t won its share of Twitter refugees. They don’t understand that Mastodon wasn’t meant to conduct the zeitgeist. Mastodon may be best for communities smaller than Dunbar’s number. Mastodon is more about “belonging” than “performance.” A performance depends on an asymmetry between the performer and their audience.
