   while I'm most comfortable using a longsword, not gonna lie I've only started studying sword and shield for a few months now and I still feel like I have no idea what I'm doing when I spar with them

     Is there a local fencing club around you? Back in university, I'd often go to the fencing club. I found one in my own town after I graduated too. I never bought my own gear .. and yea, club vests are .. kinda gross 😅 but it's a lot of fun. I never competed, but got pretty good at sparing with people with both foil and epee. I tried saber once or twice, but wasn't really my jam. ... man it's been years .. maybe I should take it up again 🤔

     The one I went to after University was mostly adults .. and holy shit they're not only still around. They're in the same building!

     I think you should! Although it may be hard to find a fencing club for adults outside being a member by attending a university to join. Most public modern fencing schools cater to the youth, at least where I am.
     
     I definitely recommend looking to see if there is a nearby historical fencing club you could join. It’s still a small community of practitioners but it is growing in popularity.
