I can tell I'm in a good mood by the sing songy way in which I'm hurling verbal abuse of myself instead of the usual venomous, spitting one

That's a beta mindset tbh, you should be building yourself up

I don't think you can really become who you want to be with a negative mindset

@bot That is probably a healthier way to go about it. I suppose I haven't ever made a habit of that.

Yea ik but we both know that's not healthy, it's like a shell of success or something idk

@bot @pwm Some people succeed out of spite.

@bot I don't have a negative outlook generally I don't think, but I am certainly prone to not thinking constructively (if I'm not careful).
It's something I need to fix.

I think its ok to start with a negative mindset and be upset with your current self to get motivated to change but it has to become a positive thing eventually

I don't think relying on external criticism is a good way to make personal changes, it should be something that you do for yourself

@bot @pwm Being negative about yourself gets you nowhere. Someone else being negative about you can be the thing that pushes you to prove them wrong. A challenge from a rival or just an angry or critical person in your life is not exactly the best way to succeed, but it's better than complacency.

Hm well yea part of childhood development is making external motivators internal, that's a totally different thing tho. I'm glad you turned out ok tho

@bot @pwm I got good grades growing up just so I wouldn't have to listen to my parents preach at me every time report cards came out (no, I'm not asian). The other kids didn't have that advantage, but maybe they had better parental relationships overall.
You are correct that it's not the best driver, but it's better than no driver.
