@sun 98 was a crashy dumpsterfire that really couldn't have been improved without a complete re-write.
GNU/Linux can run modern GNU software really fast on 512MB of RAM (old versions will run somewhat slower, although with 32MB of RAM).

@sun i'm sure you'll see a move toward more 'retro' os use once all new hardware is forced to use an os that has some kind of gov minder ai running at all times

@sun Of course a proprietary OS that runs for all of 60 minutes before crashing is a lot faster than a proprietary kernel that doesn't operate on its own.
GNU/Linux runs much faster than lose98 if you don't run garbage software.

@sun @Suiseiseki Most old os are faster in general. Install Ubuntu 9.04 and you wonder what went wrong.
