@lain@sun i would care more if nintendo even shipped PC games. they aren't even competing on the same platforms so i'd just dismiss the lawsuit out of hand
@s8n@lain@sun there's no copyright to enforce. its to stop you making exact duplicates its not a law that stops you from ever making an electric mouse of any kind
@sun@Inginsub some of the designs do look similar, more than others. regardless nintendo is just being retarded here.
they could have sold a pc release and refused to because they want to whore for their proprietary console, despite the market asking for a pc release, and some indies did and took money nintendo could have easily swept.
@icedquinn@Inginsub there used to be a pc pokemon game because, apparently this is the story, nintendo paid a company to market the first pokemon movie so they made a pokemon pc game lol, nintendo freaked out and forced them to pull it when it became massively popular.
@sun@Inginsub "i've created my own market and i'm mad because people can choose to stay in the pre-existing, larger market, rather than buy in to my proprietary jail now" words dreamed up by the utterly deranged
@s8n@Inginsub@sun i doubt it because these people have to clown and weaponize all that exists and its a big problem of why american law is such dogshit right now
@icedquinn@Inginsub@sun sociopaths can act in an ethical manner. Nothing about sociopathy precludes ethics. It's when stupidity and sociopathy combine that you have the problem
@icedquinn@Inginsub@sun let me remind you of the problem wherein people who are too intelligent fail tests because they see answers the evaluator cannot
@lain@icedquinn@sun It's not even a copyright case, it's a patent case so everyone is stuck speculating which subset of Nintendo's 8k+ mostly bullshit patents are going to be put forward, including but not limited to "virtual objects moving as a result of simulated physics in a virtual world", "actors becoming darker when passing under shadows cast from game objects", "vehicles/mounts optimized for traversing different terrain features", "an aiming mode for throwing an object that will capture a field actor with a numerical probability or initiate a combat mode" (NB: Palword does not have modal combat), and many other fun ones!
