simsa03 (simsa03@gnusocial.jp)'s status on Wednesday, 11-Sep-2024 02:17:39 JST simsa03 I'd rather keep technology and infrastructure apart, even conceptually. And infrastructure can be boring but when well done, i.e., when nobody senses its continuous working, it's on the brink of Zen-like magic that I can admire and contemplate endlessly about. Technology on the other hand, esp. the gadget version of disruptive electric capitalism, is at most interesting to me when it becomes the smart embodment of science and skills. When not turning into infrastructure, it is momentary and fleeting, and as such technology becomes the progenitor of even more sparkling pixie dust, only to wear off soon and demanding the next round. In fact, it's rather the skill involved in both that I appreciate and at times admire, not the material manifestation. But I am a (former) Protestant, so what else should I expect me to cherish? :-) -
