Obstacle to me writing anything routinely is I hate reading what I've written. I am probably going to let my blog die when its url expires solely on the basis that reading it makes me want to die. Does anyone have advice for practicing kindness to my past self in this context? (Aside from "write better." Clearly if that were an option I'd have taken it)

You would probably be kinder to the imagined other person. And you would also mention the good parts.
Or it could help to name the emotions you feel when re-reading, maybe even writing them down, e.g. „I feel embarrassed reading this“. Maybe acknowledging them can help let them go.
