     I'm not sure that's fair because I think many ppl lean on sm as a proxy for forming real relationships. I don't think it's a good thing tbh.

     @bot @vertka I agree that parasocial relationships can be harmful especially in lieu of normal healthy interactions. Applying this to fedi, there are people that I know directly that I use fedi to interact with, so how you look to use the network is what is found in result.

     That's true, but it's just that most ppl aren't really looking for anything in particular, they're just trying to fill a void. Some ppl just want to learn more about a certain topic or we but I think most are just trying to feel less lonely. Otherwise they'd just use a group chat with their friends. I think it's fine either way if it helps, but if someone says they want to be happy, it usually means irl.
