   If the world is really facing a population and environmental point of no return crisis then eugenics will inevitably come back, explain to me why it wouldn’t out of total necessity without appealing to your ick factor about it.

     Hot take: this applies to collapase cultists of any flavor.
     But, I would argue they could sincerely worry about potential problems without thinking through 2nd order effects like that.
     
     I would argue that "Eugenics is already back" but in an entirely different form than how many assume. There does seem to be a calculated piratization of wealth done in tandem with mass destruction of the commons.
     (Think shilling "defund the police" while living in a gated community with armed guards, or legalizing mass surveillance while privately profiting off it.)
