     @ryanhoulihan And I hate all of this for you as much or more than I do for myself, especially since I'm old and have lived a lot of my life (even if some of it was made very difficult by disease and doctors who didn't listen to me about my own body and take the time to run some very simple tests).

     @ryanhoulihan I share this feeling in a slightly different way. I have Graves Disease and finally got diagnosed (it took 12 years for a proper diagnosis but I've had it most of my life, going in and out of remission). I had a thyroidectomy a year before the pandemic, it took about a year to heal and stabilize and I was only starting to feel good and stable when the pandemic hit. So now I feel more whole and fully myself but, you know, civilization is collapsing and I'm now 60 (but feeling better and physically stronger than I have most of my life) so what's the point in trying to make plans like trying to return to school (for a degree that will take over 5 years) and starting a new career? It's a weird limbo to exist and to try to survive in, especially since I also have some young children and young people in my life that I care for deeply.
