@PraxisOfEvil You and everybody else. The term "systematic risk" is worth looking at. Because the USD is still the global reserve currency, money is going to be invested in our government bonds (short to long term and everything in between, bonds are just "loans") which keeps them in demand, and the fact that American businesses trade in USD backed by the same government that handles all the bonds that everyone is into means that it will boom and bust but ultimately continue to go up over time even (and especially) when things feel shitty like we're all a paycheck away from the poorhouse.

I wonder who benefits from this. Seems there isn't anyone planning or even thinking rationally

@PraxisOfEvil Yeah. It's not there yet, but it will be if it's not destabilized. I expect political and indirect economic attacks against some of the smaller players to try to make them more dependent on American aid and allies in our sphere. We're too interwoven to directly attack China's economy via sanctions or anything of that nature, for now.

@PraxisOfEvil We hear all kinds of reasons for why it's still the global reserve currency. Fact is every country owns foreign currency for every other country because it helps keeps things more stable and lets them hedge. Demand and popularity have their own inertia, but we still have the global naval presence that helps facilitate trade and makes people want to keep us around. The world police thing is a funny meme but kind of true when it comes to the ocean and piracy and stuff. The whole Huthis thing is so much bigger of a deal than MSM says because some group of "literally who" people is BTFOing our Navy in a guerilla strike scenario that looks easy to copy.

Even US politicians have stated the policy was to weaken Russia sacrificing Ukrainians openly. When random YouTubers said the day the war started that it would end with defeat for Ukraine it makes me think there are no thinking people in the administration

Pointless bloodshed on both sides, that people who are too much of a coward to directly do anything about the situation are cheering it on like its a game and not conscripts facing horrific things for no good reason.
