They start looking at hypothesis for it and one of the proposed ideas was that the immune system basically gets bored and looks for stuff to fight. It's like how the police get all the military riot gear and turn into Billy-badass for no reason on people who could've just been talked to.

A few of researchers did various things including """meta-analysis""", which doesn't mean much when the source data is garbage (shithole countries). It's an interesting theory, but probably not true. It's more likely from the various "totally safe" food chemicals, cleaners, etc. that we're constantly exposed to in the West. People in shithole countries just die earlier or their symptoms would be masked by the problem of parasites or whatever else might cause their ills.

  Our bodies also adapt to our environments. I had a lot of exposure to the outdoors and domesticated animals growing up - I don't experience allergies and my worst reaction is maybe getting a stuffy head from excess particulates in the air, like pollen.
  
  Speaking of which, I need to take an air compressor and blow out the air filter for my truck's turbo intake... watch a massive cloud of yellow puff out of the thing. lmao.

  Yeaa, I've had some med allergies before. They are brutal, but I keep those documented on a card in my wallet. Along with blood type.
