     Yes it is. In fact, punching is deadly force, so responding with deadly force is completely justified. Just search for "killed by punch" and you get tons of news stories about people dying from punches.

     can you please link what you think that is?

     i know that in some states punches against older people automatically count as deadly force..but i woudn't say that in general.

     would a a reasonable person consider every gunshot as deadly force?
     -> probably yes

     ..every punch?
     -> no

     every punch against old people?
     -> yes

     it all depends on the state you live in and whats reasonable there.

     But you would be surprised at how many young people (teens to thirties) die from punches. There's even a campaign group in the UK called "One Punch Can Kill" that raises awareness about this, and they've counted 80 fatalities from 2007 to 2017. Here's an article:

     @mk @Owl @givenup @All_bonesJones The probability doesn't matter. You're under no obligation, legal or moral, to tolerate someone else gambling with your life. Even if a punch has a 1% chance of killing you that's still a higher risk than not being punched.
