I don't understand the hate over mutual help requests

@lewdthewides Ask them, not me, but in this instance that guy left more than a single post. The contempt is innate, beggar is a state of mind rather than circumstance, otherwise one would be getting a job or at least establishing some other kind of relationship that would provide them with financial security, instead of asking randos on the Internet to pay for their Domino's.

@mint how exactly is a single post you might scroll past in your timeline considered "being in your face" about it?

@mint @lewdthewides most "mutual" help requests are made from accounts created specifically to beg for money. There's no way all of them receive 2000 dollars (or pounds) a month they urgently need for rent, utilities and medicinal weed, but miraculously none of them get evicted.

@m0xEE @lewdthewides People here are just quick to voice their displeasure, that is all.

I did and I still don't get the hate — random people on the internet can't rob you, you can just scroll past the ones you don't like.
There are of course con men (and women, which is even more common from what I've seen) who request help claiming they would use the money to help some people the can't disclaim any details about, but the community usually figures out these people sooner or later and gives them bad rep so they can no longer do it. In this case obviously there are those who have suffered — but it's not like it's me personally and I can still just scroll past it :marseyshrug:

It certainly is the lack of real effort that gets ire. If people were using the tag for actual emergencies (i.e. "We had a disaster, etc") it wouldn't get the same reaction. Instead it's some failed-to-launch first-worlder begging for groceries because working is emotionally taxing.

@Inginsub @mint whether this is the case or not, how is it your problem? Maybe they already have a job and working 40 hours or more. Harassing such people amounts to shaming them for not being even more of a wageslave giving their life to global finance

@lewdthewides @mint it’s just viscerally disgusting, and enabling such behavior is disgusting too

@Inginsub @lewdthewides Economy is shit, but I'd love to see zoomers fighting against it. Squat vacant blackrock condos, scam boomers out of their money, learn a trade or two, they have nothing to lose anyway. Virtual hugs do nothing other than instant gratification from postponing the problem.

@0 @lewdthewides @mint yeah, if any reason is given at all, it’s usually “I’m too queer for work, pay for my door dash or I will die”
