     PS I don't like the colour orange, but that's a very good one! I want to use it!

     Side note: the icons also show up next to featured hashtags on profile pages, and in search results!

     With this approach it's pretty easy to cover a wide variety of hashtags with a small selection of custom icons.

     The only limit is the dictionary of keywords will necessarily only include a handful of languages by default (right now I'm mostly using English, German, and French). But I think it would be pretty easy for admins and users to add their own keywords in the CSS file, or in an additional separate CSS file.
