Possibly because I follow so few people on here, and the people I follow, but I’m so glad there is so little doomerist “I bet the Tories just won’t call an election and then stay in power forever!” Nonsense I’m seeing elsewhere. People who’ve mistaken being pessimistic for being smart assuming that the thing they don’t understand works in the way they’d imagine it would.
It’s just a way of them expressing their depression outwards at others. Clearly things aren’t going well at home

@BethanyBlack Still, I'd be intrigued as to how the constitutional process would actually work to enforce an election if the PM didn't call one. I know full well that he will, but I still have that part of me that wants to see the drama. Like I wanted to see them deal with a Trump who refused to leave the White House.

@jonnydeane parliament dissolves at the end of the session on 17th December then by automatic function of law parliament is dissolved and the apparatus of state, like the civil service and local govts start setting up to have an election on or before 28th Jan. If the Tories turn up on 18th December like nothing’s happened then parliament is shut, none of the civil servants who keep the place running are there, that’s what happens.
