sim@shitposter.club's status on Monday, 29-Jan-2024 21:04:53 JST sim I love it when people call me toxic for voicing my different preferences to them. We're not the same, learn what tolerance means and get over yourself.
I don't need activists coming in telling me what opinions I'm allowed to have and share. I don't need the film/TV industry coming in, claiming to represent me and just using that as a scapegoat to get out of criticism. I don't need people thinking that your ideas of my usually physical traits are what represent me. That this is above criticism when maybe it is an actual issue.
It has reached this point now where I don't feel represented at all in media. The stories and characters that I did enjoy have been bastardised by writers and decision makers that don't understand them and what worked about them. Why we were able to relate to them. There are too many hacks in power now. I can't think of a single thing coming out of the western film/TV industry that excites me now.-

sim@shitposter.club's status on Monday, 29-Jan-2024 21:04:45 JST sim @iceloops @noyoushutthefuckupdad I guess it depends on the game. I'm less keen on that idea, on saying this I do think that Dragonage Origins did this well... not sure about the extra DLC for characters. But more in terms of adding an extension of the game afterwards which seemed more like its own game which you could import your character into. If it is a continuation of the same game then it's a bit more awkward for me. Because it seems more like it should have been all put together but they either ran out of time or deliberately left it back for more cash as a DLC. -

iceloops (iceloops@lizards.live)'s status on Monday, 29-Jan-2024 21:04:48 JST iceloops @sim @noyoushutthefuckupdad I feel like with video games it needs to fall again. Or at least Sony, Microsoft and other big guys need to suck less atleast. Nintendo I feel they should put a old content on PC.

sim@shitposter.club's status on Monday, 29-Jan-2024 21:04:48 JST sim @iceloops @noyoushutthefuckupdad Oh yeah, they need to stop rushing projects out or adding lots of DLC. If I buy a game, then I don't want something that is a buggy mess and I want to buy the full game in one go. Not have to put in some DLC codes or some shit. Especially given how much they ask for games now. -

sim@shitposter.club's status on Monday, 29-Jan-2024 21:04:49 JST sim @noyoushutthefuckupdad @iceloops I need to get back to my current novel. I think that now is the time for us to be making our own original content... if you can self-publish then that works well. But otherwise I'm not sure if the industry is quite ready yet. It still needs a good collapsing. That part I am enjoying to some extent... I've said before, the drama behind the scenes of Disney is a lot more enjoyable than anything they are putting out now. -

sim@shitposter.club's status on Monday, 29-Jan-2024 21:04:50 JST sim @iceloops @noyoushutthefuckupdad Yeah. At least you were able to remain immersed within the world and plot being told. It also depends on what your expectations going in were. If you are using a set IP, it comes with its worldbuilding and lore, and you can't just do whatever you want as that breaks immersion and expectations about what the lore is. You must respect the source material. It's easier to be immersed in a story that is original than one that has an established lore and fanbase. -

iceloops (iceloops@lizards.live)'s status on Monday, 29-Jan-2024 21:04:51 JST iceloops @sim it's like flims It doesn't have to have deep lore for me to like it the other week @noyoushutthefuckupdad and I were watching a space cartoon movie during movie night that sorta was ripping off starwars and had some space wizard stuff fighting androids and the big bad. But it had the aesthetic to go with it. And it was alright

sim@shitposter.club's status on Monday, 29-Jan-2024 21:04:52 JST sim @iceloops I agree. Being a writer, it makes me cringe even more when I see not just bad writing but stories that don't even entertain. I can let some things go. But characters should be consistent and it should entertain. Even if some things don't hit right for me in the plot and whatnot.
Like, I can still say that I enjoyed watching the Lord of the Rings films because they were entertaining in their own right. Even if they got some characterisation wrong and changed the plot at points. Things they were rightly criticised for when adapting a novel. I can still enjoy what they did. Quite a lot of it is impressive. -
