     Actually, they didn't say that. They just reversed the 5th Ciruit's order. They didn't decide what Texas could or couldn't do. This is literally Scotus' order. It's merely a decision upon an application for an injunction, which jurisdiction is always continuing until a final decision on the merits, assuming they grant cert on the underlying decision. If cert isn't granted, the injunction will be lifted.

     Abbotts position is extreme under today's jurisprudence and I'm not sure a court would agree because of the legal precedent it would set. (I'm not saying he's wrong though).
     
     Abbott's argument at base is that immigration law is statutory, and therefore, inferior to the constitutional provision regarding a states authority to protect itself from invasion, including invasions caused by immigration law itself.

     They are basically trying not to have to say that the Feds are breaking the law so Texas is correct until they reach the number of immigrants they are seeking. Then they will legalize them and hold the most secure election you have ever seen and use the law against you as always

     Similar to how Texas tried to say the election wasn't fair because states changed their election laws illegally. SCOTUS claimed that Texas didn't have standing, and refused to even address it right?

     Yes. I can't recall if that was a standing or a political question decision. My mind isn't a sharp as it once was. In either case they won't address it.
     
     My memory is that even if Texas had standing, they probably wouldn't be able to get past the political question doctrine because the constitution places the authority for counting delegates solely with congress. If that's the case, which I actually believe it is, election law passed by congress that govern its own internal processes, e.g. how votes are counted, cannot be litigated in any court.

     One thing is for sure the court does not want to set uncomfortable precedents and is trying to figure out how to obfuscate the issue so it's less apparent that they are cherry picking what part of the law to uphold

     The court will always attempt to find a way to legalize federal activity by using the most narrow ground, unless there is some narrower ground making the federal activity unambiguously illegal.
     
     One rule of jurisprudence is to decide cases on the most narrow ground to leave room for future decisions. The court has historically understood that if you do otherwise, you'll lock law within the zeitgeist of an era and either have to die by it (the country will fall apart because the precedent doesn't fit the times) or they'll have to regularly violate state decisis, which would make the court look more political than it already does, which also injures a country by effecting how the people view the courts and law, also leading to collapse or empire.

     I believe the issue Texas raised was that the election processes were changed by executive orders instead of the legislature as it was supposed to be. I too am old and forgetful, and the media changes the narrative to what they want it to be. None of it could have been real on account of everything being fake and/or gay.

     Lol. I wish he would park under the tree. But it is a huge black gum dead half of it over my house 3 forks one leaning over my house is like 25 feet up.
     
     I hate heights. Can't just put a chain on it and pull it with tractor and guarantee I won't smack the house or I have to cut a huge fork 25 feet up and I am not sure I can pull it off without injury.
     
     So tree guy it is. I can't afford to not work as much as I hate spending money figure it's smarter than trying to climb up and cut a rotting behemoth over my house.
     
     Will probably watch them do it and go damn wish I had thought of it but I opted to go with insured professionals
