Perhaps every system that holds your personal details with your e-mail address should be obliged by law to contact you once a year to confirm you still wish for those details to be retained (with an obligation to delete or mothball details within a period of six months or so if there is no response)

There are sites I haven't logged into for decades that still have my information and I no longer remember what they are. Shouldn't being forgotten be the default?
