     @luis_in_brief there isn't a story because there was never a rise. XMPP never had a strong active federation of thousands of servers and millions of users. It was extremely niche

     @luis_in_brief the real "rise" for XMPP was when Apple based iMessage on it, and then later WhatsApp. Its success has always been in private/closed/proprietary deployments
