tech? no! man, see... (technomancy@icosahedron.website)'s status on Monday, 11-Dec-2023 04:39:02 JST tech? no! man, see... @cwebber the killer feature for Matrix in my mind was the seamless bridging to libera (or originally freenode)
I used to laugh at the discord users with their janky-ass bridging systems that made all the discord-side nicks get funneled thru a single bot nick, breaking nick coloring, /ignore, and tab completion
and now the joke's on me because with the actually-good libera/matrix bridge dead, I've had to resort to the same thing for the channels I run
I probably never would have started a matrix channel in the first place if it hadn't been for the transparent bridging, and it feels super sketchy to introduce a feature to my community that breaks such an important safety feature as /ignore!!! but leaving the matrix chat orphaned and isolated, and never having moderators actually check it is even worse =(

Erin 💽 (erincandescent@queer.af)'s status on Monday, 11-Dec-2023 05:08:24 JST Erin 💽 @technomancy @cwebber Honestly I'm probably in a lucky position to have been able to do this, but my solution was just to move the IRC channel to a network which runs the Matrix bridge themselves (specifically, Hackint)
