@shoq yes I’ve noticed the same lack of engagement on Threads. My Mastodon posts get approx 50x better engagement. I think there are several factors driving this. One biggie is how their For You algorithm works vs how the Mastodon home timeline works. I also think the simple boost mechanism is quite powerful on Mastodon. But most importantly Mastodon just seems to have a stronger sense of community.

Shoq (shoq@mastodon.social)'s status on Saturday, 09-Dec-2023 01:07:43 JST Shoq Hardly a scientific study, but as I examined 100 Threads account at random, with few exceptions, known brands and writers had 10-50 times the followings of lesser mortals. I am not sure what it says, but my gut says celebrity influence chasing is every bit as vibrant there, as it was on Twitter. On Mastodon, a new post of mine will almost always generate a few new followers. On Threads, they almost never do after a week. Is it me, them, or it?
