   @triodug@shitposter.club @coolboymew@shitposter.club I really hate the "Its for kids who cares" excuse. Just cuz something is APPROPRIATE for kids doesn't mean it can't be good or shouldnt strive to be good.
   
   Movies can hit outside their target demographic especially with an IP as old as Mario.
   
   I have a lot of gripes about modern animated movies and while yeah some will sell regardless because moms just want something to keep lil timmy occupied while she downs her 3rd chardonnay, I dont think that means they shouldnt be criticized.
   
   There are people who can and want to make interesting stories but alas taking a gamble like that is not profitable

     @Weeble @coolboymew I mean yeah I'd prefer anything else but it makes sense to me. At least their old Jewish hollywood thought process does. They can't just start a movie in a world you don't understand with characters you don't know. Even if it's an IP that is recognizable to every single culture. The origin Isekai angle is perfect for easily introducing everything you need to in order to get the story going immediately.
     
     That being said it's still uninspired trash for kids so who fucking cares?
