Using this post to track what I learned, from this album, to do next time. This is still a work-in-progress and needs reformatting / rewording.
This post is not for you, it’s for me, I’m sharing because you might also be interested :D
- Don’t temper expectations to the point no one listens to it (That was a bad move)
- Prepare more traditional videos to release alongside, this lets people know I’m not shifting focus away from them.
- The changes to the SEO have worked GREAT and I’m seeing a lot more impressions / hits in the browse feature.
- The title / thumbnail weren’t engaging enough to make people want to click though :(
- Creating loud parts is best rendered separately and then placed back into the mix for better control of volume and not removing the effects.
- Listen in multiple qualities and on multiple devices/volume. Even though I extensively check reverb isn’t too strong it somehow still happened in one or two tracks, that shouldn’t EVER happen.
- I need to strongly consider investing in FL Studio, I’m limited by having to do the song in one long go instead of being able to slowly work on it over days.
- Releasing teasers or the album as individual tracks first would probably build interest (and not leave 2 week delays between uploads).
- Some of the lyrics become garbled due to the AI “filling the space”, I only started learning how to fix this near the end. Next time I will need to render multiple takes with multiple methods and feature index values.
- I was not satisfied with the inconsistent themes of the verses, next time I will spend more time looking for songs which discuss similar topics so as to make each track feel more “cohesive”
- It may be worth rebuilding the instrumentals fully before ever putting vocals to them.
