     It is legally interesting how in a Post-Soviet-style democracy the Supreme Leader, aka President, kann revoke international treaties...something that in the West, the place were democracy was invented, is the domain of the legislative function, aka parliaments...

     Technically the same is true in Russia. The Duma (Russian parliament) passed a law last month to revoke ratification, and this week Putin signed the law.

     Then at least the formal procedure was upheld. It had sounded as if Putler had even moved beyond that fig leaf.
