   I reckon there should be a super casual/informal "we'll be at $bar/$park/$location" fedi meetup at least monthly in the major cities.

   It'd be pretty neat to see this community strengthen physical ties, and maybe even do some interesting things together.

   Not to mention how cool it'd be to fill the local timeline with actual local stuff unrelated to news/politics/internet drama...

     The point is that this idea doesn't really seem to have occurred to anyone on the local TL, and IMO it should be totally normal for a local-centric social space to extend to the phys wrld

     Make a thing. Go to an event/concert/picnic/protest, whatever. But do it together.

     Further to this, I'm not actually *in* any of the major cities, and the whole point is #SelfOrganisation, anyway.

     I'm not here to spoon feed you interesting things to do, or ensure everyone's compliant with this or that.

     I'm here to provide a service where you can organise whatever the fuck you want.

     I want to see what's possible when you're free to have your own good ideas.

Some of us are at $bar laterI did a version of this when I went to Hong Kong for the first time. if Maybe I just posted that I was going there and asked if anyone in the verse was there and wanted to meet up. Maybe I remember fellow fedizens mentioning they lived there and @mentioned them directly. I can't remember (can you @clacke@libranet.de?). But either way, we did meet up, and I made a new friend, who I've enjoyed heaps of meatspace hangout time with since : )

     #NZToots has it's problems too, for more purile reasons <cough>

     Sadly, I can't think of any better alternatives (and no, feck advertising a white supremacist's platform, in ANY way)

     On an semi-related note, what's the recommended capitalisation policy for eg acronyms followed by words? NZToots seems like it would confuse a screen reader?
