   Probably A/B teeter “engagement” and found that people klick less on links if there are no links.

     @mattly even tho the end results are similar, IMO these are two completely separate problems

     it's actually legitimately staggeringly difficult to build a search engine that covers the entire web while still giving good results despite being constantly under attack by SEO, but Instagram's garbage is entirely an own-goal; they could easily make it do good things and they decided to make it do bad things instead

     one of them potentially has a solution (engineer harder!) and the other is a completely lost cause since they don't even want to make it good
