Android and ChromeOS both use the Linux kernel, but they go completely against the spirit of what makes Linux good by locking the system down. Which to me makes them not really count as the same thing.
I genuinely want a "year of the Linux desktop" but I think it takes the same kind of mental switch as something like federated social media and most just aren't there.
