   @ylem @Piss_Ant I saw something like this on FB the other day...there was a post saying that most people don't realize you can remove a panel and see all the stuff that gets trapped in the insulation space. They were like, before you ever throw or give away a dryer, open it up, because you might find a lot of money from pockets that got caught in there. But that's probably where the socks go.
   
   It's probably also good to do, cuz it looks like a fire hazard. Dryer fires are a thing.

     @FemaleIsNotAFeeling @polarisera @ylem @Piss_Ant Outside in the summer and on a laundry rack next to the woodstove in winter or a soggy summer (like this one!). Helps to humidify the air. I thought wood heat was dry until I spent 12 days in the hospital; how do people tolerate central heat?!?!?

     @polarisera @FemaleIsNotAFeeling @ylem @Piss_Ant I am fortunate in having an excellent appliance repairman locally. The dryer was not working properly and he opened it and found a huge staple from a paper bale of shavings screwing everything up. Needless to say, my sorta partner got a serious talking-to.
     
     Hey, Spinsters, how in hell do you lose your clothes in the dryer? I have NEVER done this and have been doing laundry for 57 years.

     @susansiens @polarisera @ylem @Piss_Ant It's pretty much only socks for me. I don't think I've ever lost anything else. I've considered washing my socks all together with everything else in a garment or hosiery bag before, so there are no missing pairs.

     @FemaleIsNotAFeeling @polarisera @ylem @Piss_Ant I spoke incorrectly! The staple was in the washer which wouldn't work due to the staple's presence.
     
     I've never lost anything in the dryer, but I only use it rarely. I still can't see how anything of any size could disappear, even a sock or a pair of underwear.

     @FemaleIsNotAFeeling @ylem @Piss_Ant I had to do this to clean out a trap that stank like Piss_Ant's armpits after a weeklong polyculefest. I did not find any stray socks lose in there. But I did find a small sock in the trap.
