Did you folks know that if it wasn’t for Margaret Thatcher, the UK would have had nationwide full fibre in the 1980s? We’re talking 100 Mbit. In the eighties. But Thatcher sold off British Telecoms and specifically defunded the fibre project. But SK Telecom, who was BT’s partner at the time, took the fibre technology back home, and now South Korea has some of the best telecoms in the world.
Put another way: there’s a parallel universe where all the best Starcraft players are British.
