  But then the gayops happen off platform which makes it less attractive to try and hack the instance since everything would be public or followers only, so in a way that's sort of beneficial IMO

  I guess the lesson from all of this is don't rely on PMs staying private forever, don't post shit you don't want getting leaked :blobcatgooglyshrug:
  
  Nostr does have some good points, but also bloat and soy faggotry so I want to use AP for my project.

  The rules are clear:
  
  - You are in charge of your key. Your key is your identity. Guard it.
  - Anything you do is VERY PUBLIC and VERY PERMANENT.
  - You can DM someone with encryption, but if their key gets compromised, whatever you said is also compromised. Same for messages sent to you, if your key is compromised.

  Events like this are why I want to figure out how to encrypt DMs in the project I am working on (which we plan on implementing AP with it later)
