@cwebber I know this was about social networks but I'm thinking about it with languages
like way back in the day when I started with Ruby you were considered to have really good luck if you got to use Ruby at work
then Ruby took off and later I switched to Clojure and it was the same way; most people at the conferences were there because they loved it and only a few were employed with it
nowadays there's plenty of people who are using Clojure because their boss told them they have to, and the vibe is really different!
I wonder if this is why Haskell has the motto "avoid success at all costs"
