     @ieure I know imgur isn't primarily for programmers but I'm surprised how many programmers don't have a directory they can scp a gif to and have nginx or apache or whatever serve it up

     I'm not sure what a long-term Imgur alternative would be like. I'm talking about original Imgur, just a low bullshit way to share your photos -- I don't give a single rip about the wacky login-social-trending-commenting stuff they bolted on afterwards.

     I know there have been a few attempts at this sort of thing, and IPFS seems to be the current Thing.

     Dug up all my old IRC logs (10+ years worth) and pulled all the Imgur URLs out of them, tossed all those into the Archive Team hopper. A bit over 13k URLs total.

     Endgame Imgur enshittification. :(

     @technomancy I don't disagree, but I do think that "upload a thing and it lives there forever" is a good thing with a lot of usecases. I definitely don't keep stuff in my random web-exposed directories for ever.

     I guess it's just obvious to me that "lives forever" can never be a feature offered by a company, but yeah there's plenty of people who haven't learned that lesson yet
