   @gabriel @atomicpoet @smallcircles Cloudflare is probably a bigger threat than Facebook, because they have a strong influence on the internet infrastructure and better reputation.

   I think Facebook's new adventure will be a failure just like Libra chain and Metaverse, but the situation can be used to attack Fediverse from another angle.

     I think the meta is changing.
     If were entering an austerity cycle, there won't be much to prop up big tech and their shenanigans.
     Moving forward I'd argue Facebook supporting fedi federation is much less damaging than insane proposals like #ChatControl and other draconian internet regulations.

     @atomicpoet I wouldn't say I am worried. This was bound to happen one day.

     But I am disappointed that in all the years before the grassroots #FOSS movement wasn't able to create stronger foundations that would place them in a better position than they are now.

     It is a fact of life, I know. #FreeSoftware has a big sustainability issue that is very hard to tackle.

     If #Fediverse is taken over by the corporate world, FOSS projects are left to add to that or explore new areas to be captured later.

     With #Facebook plans to test decentralized waters after #Cloudflare and others, we'll see resilience of #Fediverse to remain of-the-people.

     Does it matter if they'll be #ActivityPub-based or not? Stuff depends on levels of investment and products launched.

     Was thinking #BigTech would only add AP endpoints a bit naive?

     Will slick open core products, sdk's, quality semi-open specs and docs, launch the #CorpoVerse?

     Keep the #FOSS free beer coming ?
