   An interesting question. I think the answer is mouth feel. More appealing to chew than a soggy flat circle. Did notice how the voiceover called it a "wholesome bagel" like some kind selling point though when it's clearly made with bleached flour. The 90s were weird like this. Everyone thought pita pockets were inherently healthy for a long time too.
