Her mother, Shyamala Gopalan Harris, was a renowned cancer researcher who spent time at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab. Dr. Harris devoted her career to science and service. Like so many other highly skilled immigrants, she helped build a healthier, stronger, and more prosperous America.
