   #Mastodon 4.2 で画像サムネイルが縦長すぎる問題の対応。サーバ設定の外観のカスタムCSS に以下を記載しました。

   .media-gallery {
   max-height: 552px;
   }
   .media-gallery__item-thumbnail img {
   object-fit: contain;
   -o-object-fit: contain;
   }

   添付画像のように一定サイズ以内で表示され、クロップではなく領域に合わせて縮小されます。
