{"text":"There are so many cuisines in Malaysia, all of them \u2018local\u2019. Depending on who you are (ethnic group, social class) and also your dietary requirements (halal, etc) you may eat completely different kinds of foods at different kinds of places. I\u2019m a fan of the contemporary modern Malay chains like Serai, which does the classics really well. Of course, I can get better nasi ulam and CKT on the streets somewhere but sometimes you just want a nice sit down place with family, that makes all the classics in an above average kind of way.I honestly believe if chains like these were anywhere else in the world, they\u2019d be the best Asian restaurant anywhere.. just that those of us who grew up in Malaysia and Singapore have impossibly high standards for the traditional foods here (\u2018must be better than grandma\u2019s).
